Foggy Kayaking

Foggy Kayaking

I was going through some older photos and seeing what I had missed. Going back and reviewing images from months or years ago is a great way to not only refresh memories, but you can see images that didn’t strike you at the time because you had preconceived ideas about the image you were expecting.

This is Ellis Cove off of Budd Bay in Olympia.

Foggy Winter Scene

Foggy Winter Scene

This was from the same day as the previous post (Sunny Winter Scene) and about an hour later. The clouds came up the mountain and everything was totally socked in. Not much to shoot except the outlines of trees. So, I shot outlines of trees. This is not a black and white image, by the way. There just isn’t any color making it through the fog.

Krause Bottom, Elwha River Valley

Krause Bottom, Elwha Valley, Olympic National Park

This was the afternoon of New Year’s Eve, 2001. We had hiked up the Elwha Valley and visited Krause Bottom in the Olympic National Park. This was before they removed the dam to return the upper river to salmon habitat. While it didn’t rain on us, there were low clouds/fog/mist that gave the valley a mysterious look. We had camped at the upper end of the valley a couple times and hiked through several more … it is always a special.
