Bunker Door

Bunker Door

I was walking the paths in Fort Worden State Park when I caught a flash of bright red off to the side. It was the sun catching the rust on this bunker door. From a straight on view, the red isn’t quite as brilliant as it was with the sun at a reflecting angle, but I love the patterns.

Getting off the main street and walking the alleys and access streets is a great way to find new and visually exciting spots. This door looks like it has seen better days… and the building is just a little bit scary with the cracks and patches.

This is one of the door to the old powerhouse at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, WA. I’m not sure how well it operates now (the door, not the powerhouse). I would love to hear it being opened… I bet it really screeches.

Rusted Door

Fort Worden State Park (Port Townsend, WA) has a lot of old bunkers, gun emplacements and search light stations … in various stages of decomposition. This one was about the worst I’ve seen. Clearly showing the signs of weather and salt air. While in the worst shape, one of the more interesting.
