Architecture of B.C.

B.C. Parliament Building, Victoria

During a recent visit to British Columbia to visit friends, I took several photos of various buildings. I don’t usually take architectural photos … instead shooting nature, but I liked the way this series showed the variations experienced on my trip.

Getting off the main street and walking the alleys and access streets is a great way to find new and visually exciting spots. This door looks like it has seen better days… and the building is just a little bit scary with the cracks and patches.

Construction of the building began in 1889 and was completed in 1890. The space was originally offices and retail space. It is currently undergoing some remodeling. The building was recognized as a registered state historic place in 1972.
